When the Zoo runs wild.

I look forward to special days with my kids.  Truth be told, the days with little or no plans or big plans that involve something I know they will love are the ones that I cherish the most and don't really fully appreciate until we are in the midst of them.

While Brian and Blake were off in Moab climbing mountains of all shapes and sizes, I wanted to treat my girl to some special time.

We watched a princess movie a day.  We painted pottery, painted our nails and we had one extra special date planned...the zoo.  But, not just another day at the zoo...a Piper driven day at the Zoo.

You see, the second kid kind of gets dragged wherever the first wants to go most of the time.  Snakes, crocs, monkeys.  I SWORE it would not be the case but...it just is.  Most of the time we try to make sure she is heard BUT a day for her to decide...sounds heavenly!

I pictured a beautiful, slow-paced Zoo day with my girly.  I already knew where she would want to go first but her reply of "the efelants" had me grinning ear to ear.
So, we were on our way, happy and excited and then we saw the parking lot.  Top level - full, parking garage - full, museum parking lot - full, city park parking lot - full.  I mean.  For THAT big of a crowd I expect lots of babies in the nursery and possibly the worlds first ever pink efelant.  THAT I would park and walk a mile to see!  We Zoo a lot and I have NEVER seen it like that!

Go figure.

So, we drove around a bit and when I realized it was hopeless to keep looking, we decided to make lemonade out of lemons.  So, we went to the very fun park next to the zoo we never really go to.

It was fun but, we will be planning a piper does the zoo day soon!  mark.my.words and y'all better look out!  There are efelants to see!

This was not the animal exhibit exploration I had in mind BUT, it'll do.
