Laundry doesn't matter!

First let me start off by saying, I like a clean house. I just HATE the work and time it takes to get said clean house. I can think of 3,000 things better than cleaning at the drop of a hat. However, I have a husband who likes a clean house, 3 dogs, 2 kids and 2 adults living in a VERY small house which makes for lots of picking up to prevent lots of HUGE messes! I dont have a cleaning house day necessarily. I really just do things as I see them and we make a point to pick up every night before bed so things are at the very least in the right places. I love this method and for me it works...most of the time.

SO - yeah, gross huh? One problem with my "method"..when we are busy, cleaning goes by the waste side, especially laundry. This weekend we were surprised by two of my favorite people from my family in Oregon, Jim and Donna! They came into town unannounced and surprised us with a great weekend of eating out, broncos party, shopping and time with all the kids and chaos that is our family! It was such a great weekend! We had a blast and partied literally from Friday at noon to last night! We had a great time. We got home last night, put the kids to bed and I went down to get on my pj's. I opened the door...dun, dun, dun...LAUNDRY! Piles and piles of laundry, a load in the washer (oops!) from Friday, and more clothes that are ready to be folded and put away - YIKES! So, today I do laundry, laundry and more laundry. BUT - it was SO worth it!

I would much rather live my life by the seat of my pants than have a rigid routine. Yes, sometimes it bites be in the butt (I am on load 4 as we speak) BUT the fun we have when the laundry is piled high is always worth it!

I once heard a saying that has stuck with me for years (and if we are close and you have small kids, I have probably said it to you a few times)..."kids wont remember how high your piles of laundry was or the dirty dishes in the sink, but they will remember the times you spent together doing fun things."

Point? Make time for chores but make MORE time for fun and the things that really matter! I wont remember today and the piles of laundry but the memories from this weekend will last forever!
