9-1-1

Where do I even start?  Last night, I had to dial 9-1-1 for Piper.  I held it together very well given the situation, BUT it was terrible and for some reason I remember the siren picture that came up on my phone as it rang.  Grabbing my mismatched shoes was a blur and saying goodbye to Brian as they closed the ambulance door was awful!

Piper has RSV for the second time now and her breathing is just really "off"...

fast forward

That was written Friday night and little did we know, the nightmare of our weekend was just beginning. And now instead of going back into detail I will just catch up to speed on our beautiful Ms. P.

She's siiiiiick :(  Poor love!  Sunday around 4pm, I got home from work and her breathing was "off" again. It is bizarre because each time I have said that with this round of RSV, her breathing has been different but "off" each time.  Anyway, SO we decided that we should time her breaths as earlier in the day the Dr. had said if she gets about 60/min she needs to be seen.  Welp, 60+ and up to 70/min one time and this momma had enough!  I decided to take her back into the ER, (3rd time for the weekend) and pretty much demand we be admitted.  I do not have any kind of medical background, knowing she couldn't breathe well, had high fevers and could possibly need oxygen, I was not comfortable being in charge of her healthy anymore.  In addition, I was E.X.H.A.U.S.T.E.D!  I had slept 4 hours for two nights and couldn't nap because I was beyond worried about her breathing (or lack of).  Going to the ER 3 times this last weekend has been rough, but even in between those frequent visits, were lots of counting breaths, temp taking, neb treatments and calling the nurseline.

We headed in around 4pm, her oxygen levels were 88 and her heart rate was 167ish..they said we were going to be admitted and I wanted to HUG THEM!  We got into our room and got settled in and today was spent with a few visitor, neb treatments, steroid treatments and lots of rest for Piper!

We have been SO blessed with great Dr's, nurses, and support from our awesome family and friends.  I have really just been amazed and feelin' the love!  So, thank you!

Here are a few pics from our stay thus far...

What a momma never wants to see.

Sounds like we are on the home front!  She is still on oxygen and sleeping as I type this.  She is sleeping well, her lungs are clear and her appetite is still going strong!  The only real problem is her rapid breathing (although that is improving) and her need for oxygen, which we are hoping we can start weening her from tonight.

Poor baby girl, but we will get through and dance all the way!
