I spy a learner (or two)

Of ALL the things about being a mother that I love...few compare to watching my kids learn!  I find it fascinating to watch that "light bulb" go on.

Piper is 11 months old and her knowledge or what is going on around her has me speechless!  Recently, Blake and I were playing airplanes and pretending to make airplane noises while we flew them over our head.  I gave Piper one and she blew bubble noises with her mouth and put her plane in the sky too!  When I say "no, no Piper" she shakes her head no.  This morning, Blake said "good morning Piper, I love you" and she leaned in for a kiss!  Playing with our little people zoo animals today, I showed her a Tiger and said "roar" to which she replied "ggrrrrrrr".  The list really goes on and on.  And, the best part..when she GETS it, she knows she GETS it!  It is the coolest thing to watch!  She is starting to talk too!  So far, "daddy, thank you, and ducky" are all that we have been able to pick out.  I can't wait for the talking to really kick in and hear her mind!

Blake is learning too (of course)...he has always had an amazing imagination!  He can make anything into anything!  I love it!  We have a few "staple" toys that he can create several things with and we are never at a loss of things to do.  This morning, we played "zoo" in the playroom.  First, he set up his pop-up tent and positioned it just so on the couch ancored by his ride on airplane and created a "playplace".  Then, he proceeded to put all of his stuffies inside and several books, blocks, and his play computer.  He started to hand me a block that was "mail" and I was the zookeeper.  Each block had instructions on it as to what I was supposed to do for each animal!  We must have played for over an hour and I fed, watered, de-pooped cages, and cut grass WAY more than any zookeeper ever has before!  I love watching him create games and play with no rules and no real sense of reality.  He has also really grown lately in his writing and coloring skills (much to his dismay).  He is willing to try anything, even textures or sensory things that he use to not like.

They are both exploring their own little worlds and I am the lucky one who gets to watch everyday!
