SO, when the tragic death of Mongoosa happened, we told Blake maybe one day we could catch another one. The odds of us finding another one in our garage were slim (thank goodness) and we have yet to see another toad anywhere. A year or so ago, my stepdad said sometimes he gets them at his shop and he would keep an eye out. Blake has talked about it from time to time and for his birthday wanted a Frog. We looked into it and were not about to spend $200+, plus get a uva/uvb tank, plus buy LIVE CRICKETS (ew x 3,000) weekly. SO - we settled on this thing called an "american dwarf frog" but it is basically a fish. He LOVES it.
Welp, tonight....Blake was in the bath and we got a call. It was grandma, grandpa brought home a special something for Blake. I hurried him out of the tub, grabbed his toad tank (yes we were prepared in case we did find another one again) and headed to grandmas.
This was him, excited, on the way there.
Once we got there, we got his tank ready and then grandma and grandpa helped him get the frog from the coffee can he was in to the tank...(pardon my screaming like a little girl BUT that thing is HUGE!!! and, well it's a toad people!)
So yeah, sorry about that screaming! I was laughing so hard! Blake is thrilled and is currently being super quiet and super sneaky in his room watching it in the tank on the floor acting like he is sleeping ;)
So, here is Zangoosa...
and, here is one happy toad-loving boy...
AND - just for grins, here is a short clip from when we caught Mongoosa last year...
RIP Mongoosa...Zongoosa, we will do our best!
and, no we are NOT keeping him! We will let him go in a day or two. Funnily, he is going back to grandma and grandpas tomorrow for the weekend with our kids! hehe thanks Mom!
