There are a few reasons I LOVE Facebook and at the TOP of that list; connecting with old friends!
These are some of my best girl friends from high school, reconnected 11 years later!
Over the past 20 years that have brought me lots of laughs, giggles and joy in my life. SO, what better to do with a group of girlies that you love than spend the day crawling through the mud and running a 5k with obstacle courses and such to raise money for breast cancer awareness
Funny thing is, I am NOT a runner! My teammates can attest to that! I was going to race, then I wasn't and then the night before the race, one of our friends called and asked if I wanted to fill in because she injured her foot and couldn't participate.
I was thrilled!
Then, I realized it was a run! I haven't ran (unless something was chasing me) since 7th grade! Ok, maybe once but, I am NOT a runner! TOP secret, I wanna be. Runners have great bodies and I know that running is one of the best exercises you can do.
I had no time to train and was really, really not in the physical shape I had hoped to be in BUT I did it and had a BLAST doing it! I did not run the whole thing like I had planned, a 5k race outside covered in mud and running on uneven ground was probably not a realistic goal in the first place, but hey, when am I ever realistic? I was bummed that I didn't run the whole time, BUT I am proud of what I did with no training and it gave me that push I had been waiting for toward loosing weight and getting healthier!
I loved the time I spent with my friends and we are already planning to do it again next year!
Here are a few shots of the race journey and thanks to Jill's hubby I will share more that he took later, once we get them!
