capturing the everyday

Yesterday we stayed home all day and declared it our "blast the Christmas music, Christmas craft/pinterest, play with my new lens day".

First, a little playing with the lens the first night we picked up the lens..

blake took this picture and loved it!
he had a GREAT time playing with the camera and taking pictures of  his Legos.

he thinks playing with the Aperture is hilarious!

I like to take pictures of well, everything ;)  I especially love, love to take pictures of my kids!  When we are out at special places, I always have my camera in hand.  Pictures of the kids at the zoo, kids museum, park, those are some of the most precious memories from this stage...but, more special than those are the photos that capture the everyday.  Pipers crazy bed head in the morning after wearing pig tails the day before, Blake bare toes tucked under him at breakfast, the fun things we did together at home and those extraordinary memories we made on just the "ordinary" days.

Last year, we had a "Blake day" it was a day I still look back on and LOVE and plan to do another one soon!  You can read more about that HERE.  I am looking forward to doing another one and seeing how his interests have changed, although I fear my entire day would be spent playing Star Wars fighter pods...yawn!

Anyway, yesterday we did our day.  I had a few things I wanted to do with the kids for Christmas and figured with my new camera I could capture the everyday, at least for right now, this second in our life.  So, here's a little glimpse of our daily moments...Enjoy!

a little early morning coloring before Blake gets up...love her crazy bedhead

piper loves books...yesterday morning we read "moon" Goodnight moon

nothing is cuter than your kids romping about in their footie "pajammies"

mr. meticulous, always has been in love with tiny toys that do tiny things.

I LOVE this picture!  Our daily activity advent calendar yesterday said to "record yourself singing your favorite Christmas song" SO...we did!  The kids LOVED watching it on the TV which then led to watching a few old home movies <3!

feeding her babies

playing "christmas rice"

peppermint scented playdough and cookie cutters

concentration...

and, when brother says "enough pictures mom"

so does sister...

gotta have a little fun ;)

they are either a. laying peaceful together, sharing a moment or
b. snuggling for warmth in the ray of sunlight since they are in only undies ;)

"mommy necks" aka.  necklaces or bracelets

washing up in the sink after painting turned into a fun activity in itself...

getting so big!

after crafts, B wanted to play "guys" and Piper kept sitting right behind him and tickling him...CUTE!

tickle, tickle, tickle..

gettin' our daily dose of our families Jib Jab

a few quiet time crafts during pipers nap time while we patch...

and finally, two of my favorite things we made yesterday...two canvases to go around the house at Christmas time.  Blake made the snowflake one completely on his own using tape and then peeling it off when dry..he LOVED it!

After our fun home day, we were off to the pool for Blake's last swim lesson of the session. I wanted to treat the kids to a swim play date and picnic dinner several times during these lessons BUT it's December and crazy busy SO we just did it once at the last lesson...going out with a BANG!

oh, this girls facial expressions crack.me.up!

love her polka-dot and ruffle butt

that's Blake...he's rarely above the water these days

dinner with my goofs

and a nice warm shower afterwards and before lessons

BUMMER that the one day I brought my camera was "safety day" and so his actual swimming wasn't much...still made for some cute pictures though and hey, safe is cool!

piper was SO tired and wanted to watch "fia" aka Princess Sofia

cutie patootie and I get to be his mom!

So, there ya have it!  Everyday is different, there isn't always crafts or swimming dinner dates but there are always these two special cuties and my camera ;)  It's like a match made in heaven.
