Nana's jeweled key calculator..

When I was 12, 10, 8, 6...(we'll say 6), my favorite thing to do was to play grocery store.  At Nana's house, I had the basics; shopping cart, access to her lazy susan full of food, and her jeweled calculator.

Yesterday morning, passing Piper's toy shopping cart I had the urge to recreate one of my favorite memories.  A computer mouse as the "beeper", an old computer keyboard took the place of the jeweled calculator.  I watched from the couch as Blake (the cashier) wrote Piper's name on her receipt, scanned only about 1/2 of the food she had in her cart, talked her out of buying taco shells because apparently she doesn't eat those, and totaled her up $987 bill.  Piper found her purse, with her credit card and paid for her food.

It was the cutest thing I've watched in a while.
