unofficial start to summa time!

Memorial day is one of my favorite weekends of the whole year...right up there with 4th of July and Christmas.  

We had a big event around here this past week...

this happened.....preschool, check!

I would like to pretend that my Nostalgia comes from this big milestone in lil b's life...(He is now a Kindergartner ya know?) but in reality I know that this weekend every year is the weekend that I get the urge to create our summer to-do's, vow to cherish the little moments and be less into what the clock says and more into what feels good.  

100 lazy, crazy days of summer!  Just US in charge of US...lots of playing in water, lots of outside, lots of time together with very little MUST DO's.

After all, we are all ready for a slight break from the school year routines...

Every year, Memorial weekend we go to the Boulder Creek Fest!  We love it!  Amusement rides, stick sidewalks, the rubber ducky races, playing in the creek AND, this year...hubby is running his first 10K!  It's gonna be a great way to kick-off summer!

This week has been nuts for me.  Not fun nuts.  Driving in the car from south denver to longmont to show houses, turn up the radio to de-stress (the only way a Zac Brown Band song can) only to look down at my phone and see 3 texts, 2 missed calls and 7 emails nuts!  Work, blah!  (It's a good thing I love my job and my clients!).  So, today driving with the windows down from one appointment to the next, I got a bit excited thinking about this holiday weekend.  I mean, I flipped off the printer multiple times this week so I think it is fair to say; momma needs a break!

Even today, I was reminded how good it feels to slow down and just BE.  Listen to how Piper sings Twinkle Twinkle..."tinkle, tinkle, little staw".  Precious

Brian is gone camping with the guys and as I drove from working today, I made a small but super fun bucket list for this unofficial kick off to summer.  Things that excite me, things we have longed to do all winter and things that B still talks about doing last year.  Tonight, we kicked off our Memorial weekend just right

..and toasted marshmallows and a cracklin' fire kinda right.

And, that moon?  WOW.

Ready.Set.Summer!  Off to play this weekend with the kids and only one rule...remember the sunscreen and the camera because sun and fun is everywhere!
